Dr Abdul Ghaffar is the Executive Director of the Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research at the World Health Organization. A forward-thinking leader with over 30 years of progressive experience managing health policy and research, Dr Ghaffar has primarily dedicated his work to improving the performance of health systems in low- and middle-income countries by advocating for the generation and the use of evidence for improved policy and management decision-making. Before his role at the Alliance, Dr Ghaffar served as the Regional Advisor for Research at the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office and prior to joining WHO, he held various senior positions in health policy, health systems planning and academia in Pakistan.
