Keith Cloete

Chief Director, Metro District Health Services, Western Cape Government

Keith Cloete is a medical doctor by training. He has a medical degree (University of Cape Town, 1988) and post-graduate diplomas in Child Health and Health Management. He worked as a primary care clinician and a school health medical officer in the Cape Metro Health District until 1996, when he became a health programme manager in the then Metro Regional Office of the Western Cape Health Department. He was the Western Cape Director: HIV/AIDS and TB from 2003 to 2007, and has been the Chief Director of Metro District Health Services since 2007. He has been involved in various local, provincial and national policy and health systems reform processes over the past 20 years, most recently with the development of the Healthcare 2030 strategy of the Western Cape Department of Health.
