TK Sundari Ravindran has a Ph.D in Applied Economics from the Centre for Development Studies, Trivandrum, Kerala, India. She is currently professor at the Achutha Menon Centre for Health Science Studies, Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum, and Visiting Faculty at the School of Public Health at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Sundari is former co-editor of the international journal Reproductive Health Matters, and is currently a member of its editorial advisory board. She has worked with the World Health Organization at its headquarters and with its regional offices in various capacities. She was also a member of the United Nations’ MDG Task Force on Maternal and Child Health and of the Foundation Council of the Global Forum for Health Research.
Sundari Ravindran is a Founder Member of RORE (Rights Oriented Research and Education in sexual and reproductive health), an international network; of the National Coalition for Maternal-Neonatal Health and Safe abortion (India) established in 2006. She is also a Founder Member of Rural Women’s Social Education Centre (RUWSEC), a grassroots women’s health organization in Tamil Nadu, and has been involved in the organisation’s activities in various capacities since its inception in 1981 till the present.
