Kara Hanson is Professor of Health System Economics and Dean of the Faculty of Public Health and Policy at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She has conducted extensive research on the role of the private sector in delivering priority health interventions including bednets and antimalarial medicines. Together with Barbara McPake she co-edited the recent Lancet series on the private sector. Her current research looks at the challenges of regulation in the context of rapidly changing healthcare markets in low- and middle-income countries.
